Beginning this week, I will discuss very quick ideas to help you keep your house in top shape all the time. Some of these ideas are the same methods we use in our cleaning processes. This means these tips have been field tested. They just work. In our last week tips, we discussed few ideas to keep your house cleaned after spring break. If you did not have a chance to read that, go ahead and do so.
The quick tips for this week is about one of the most important equipment in our kitchens. The microwave. If you are like our family, we pretty much use the microwave for everything from warming left overs to actually cooking food. It's just a matter of time before these things get messy with food crumbs, oils spills and everything else in between. If left untouched, it can eventually end up looking that the one on the below picture. We have capture several of these type of images during our routine customer cleaning. We do not want any of our customers to feel uncomfortable seeing their microwave on this newsletter, so I used a generic stock image to represent what we've seen over the years.
In order to avoid hiring professional cleaners just to come deep clean your microwave down the road because you cant stand the filth anymore, start today to implement these 3 quick ideas, and you will be happy about the result. Items you will need are:
- 1 microwaveable safe bowl
- cleaning vinegar optional
- microfiber towel or paper towel
- Sponge - in case you need to scrub things off
Lets do this. Follow this simple steps
Remove any visible crumbs from inside the microwave
Put about 1/4 - 1/2 cup of water in the microwaveable safe cup - you may also add about 2-3 table spoons of vinegar in the water at this time
Heat the water on high power for about 2-4 minutes or until solution boils and window is steamy
Once heating is complete, you will notice that the entire inside of microwave is completely covered with steam from water/vinegar mixture in the cup from step 2
Let it sit there for about 10-20 minutes, and use your microfiber towels and begin wiping off all the stains and soils that was noticed on the microwave.
The is a science behind what is going on here. Besides cleaning the dirt in your microwave, this process completely sanitize your microwave. Not sure you want to be bored with that scientific details. Just in case some inquisitive minds are interested, there is a very good article that i found here that discusses that in details. We hope these tips will make cleaning your microwave easier.
